Hi Spiritsong,

Long time no see or speak. I have missed blogging, but I will be going back to my old job at the airport, can you believe it. My contract had come to an end, and they hadn't extended the contract, so I have to go back to previous one, which I am very pleased about.

I will be busy organising 2 more workshops for Sylvie in February 2010 in Hamilton NZ once again, so I am looking forward to that. We have set up a lenormand workshop blog with all the details www.lenormandnz.wordpress.com
So please drop by. These workshops will be pre-requisites to her teachers certification. So something to strive for.

Hope all of your legal battles have been settled for you.

many blessings

I just did a draw and got Ring, Ship, Bear. What do you make of that? I've been seeing the ship card a lot lately. I'm never really sure what to make of it.

Thanks Celeste :)

I've only become an oracle lover in the past 2 years. I was strictly a Tarot person my entire life.

Then I came upon Sylvie Steinbach, and her wonderful book "The Secrets of the Lenormand Oracle", and had the pleasure of learning from her via an online forum for a year. She opened my eyes to the wonder of the Lenormand and brought some magic back to reading cards for me.

Learning about combining cards for another meaning, totally revolutionized the way I look at any card system - especially tarot!
The tarot cards now combine to give extra layers of meaning to my reading.
I am really grateful to Sylvie for opening my eyes not only to Lenormand, but for how I read cards across the board :)

Highly recommended.

Oh thanks for posting a link to me. Draagonstorm--didn't she do the Spirograph Tarot? I have that--I traded for it. Oops, sorry, the Spirotarot. I see she glue two pieces of cardstock together for her boxes--I am just using regular cardstock which tends to rip if dropped (like when you're coming down the stairs with 10 decks to play with.)

I have decided just to print my Lenormand card files directly from Photoshop as I'm putting the numbers on in there rather than in the QuickCards software and I'm not putting a back pattern on them. I've got a few done which I put on my Photon Stimulas blog. Some of those pictures are hard to scrounge up in public domain clip art. If I was better in Illustrator I could draw a coffin or a scythe myself.

Oh yes, I make card boxes for mine too, and bags, and handmade sewn journals, and I buy action figures and whatever springs to mind. A deck is no fun unless is has accessories. Somewhere on my blog is about my Towers Art Journal where I am studying Tower cards in a handmade book.

My total card collection comes to 325. They all clamour for accessories and pertinent doodads. I will most definitely make a box for this Lenormand deck I'm making.

Too many delights!

Hi Woley :)

Thanks so much for sharing links to your creations, they're wonderful! You had me itching to get back to designing something. I'm involved with a group project on Kapherus' forum to design our own deck. I've made a Jack of Diamonds card and posted it, but still have to make a King of Spades card and just haven't had time to play.
I absolutely love how you used the tile patterns - very pretty

A program that I've used and had great luck with is a freeware program that I found. A member of Aecletic Tarot made it and designs her own decks. She has a wonderful tutorial on making cards as well.
Here's the link:
http://www.draagonstorm.com/

I've used the program also just to print out decks I obtained digitally and wasn't sure I wanted to buy without trying first:) lol ie - kipper and sibilla decks
That was alot of fun, and then I had to make card boxes for them as well, of course.

I'll post a link in my sidebar to your blogs :)

hugs,

Amazon shipping is $9 so slightly better. Thanks for letting me know.

I have found Italian much easier than to translate than French--I translate some Italian I Ching cards and another tarot book in Italian.

I once was on the Kapherus forum but they use a different method than the Deborah Leigh one and I just want one method. Some people are really into it and know several methods but it was overload to me.

I discovered Somerville's Playing Card Sales and that's where I got most of my playing cards. He's got all kinds of interesting European and facsimile cards. I also made a couple decks of my own.

If you're interested there is software. You are supposed to use their special printed sheets but they are perforated and won't go through my HP printer. I do a little workaround and make my own by preparing the images in Photoshop. and then I use the border feature in the program to get a line for trimming.
http://plaincards.com/

OMG don't get me going on playing cards, I'll never shut up. I think I have a few older draws on my blog, but this is a recent one showing the latest deck I did with Dover clip art engravings. I was using furniture and other household items.
http://woley.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/in-the-reeds/

Here's the other one (from my other blog--once you start a blog you have to have two apparently.)
http://jjbks.wordpress.com/2008/12/01/dutch-tile-playing-cards/

You might like to fiddle with that card program. It has the facility to do tarot cards too so there's no reason you couldn't do a Lenormand deck and just use 36 card spaces and then print.
